Professor Haiyan Wang from the Department of Communication in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Macau has been selected as a visiting scholar for the 2025-2026 Harvard-Yenching Institute Visiting Scholars Program. This selection recognizes her significant academic contributions to the fields of journalism, communication, and digital media studies on an international level.

Professor Wang has an extensive academic background and research experience. Her research focuses on the impact of digitalization on journalism and media, as well as women in news media. She has published numerous high-impact academic papers in international journals and has conducted in-depth studies on the transformation of journalism in the digital age, including the professionalization of journalism and the comparative analysis between digital and traditional media.

The University of Macau was invited to participate in the Harvard-Yenching Institute Visiting Scholars Program for the first time. The Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IAS) has been entrusted with administering the program, including the application and selection process. The programme aims to provide faculty members in the humanities and social sciences with the opportunity to undertake in-depth academic research at Harvard University and other affiliated institutions, fostering global academic collaboration and interdisciplinary research.
