The Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) is a citation database in the humanities and social sciences developed by the China Social Sciences Research Evaluation Center at Nanjing University. CSSCI follows bibliometric principles and uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. It selects academic journals with strong scholarly quality and rigorous editorial standards as source journals from more than 2,700 Chinese-language academic journals in the humanities and social sciences in China. CSSCI is currently one of the most influential and authoritative core‑journal evaluation systems in China’s humanities and social sciences. Its source journals are selected every two years.
Starting from the 2023-2024 period, the China Social Sciences Research Evaluation Center at Nanjing University has officially included academic journals from the Hong Kong and Macau regions. SCQJUM is among the first “C-journals” selected from the Hong Kong and Macau regions. The journal embraces the editorial philosophy of “Making Chinese scholarship global” and “An international journal for the Chinese academic community.”
