A delegation from the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IAS) of the University of Macau (UM) visited the Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities (IASH) of Sun Yat-sen University (SUSU) from December 17 to 18. The delegation was warmly received by Professor Xie Shi, Vice President of SYSU and Dean of IASH, along with colleagues from the institute. The visit aimed to further strengthen academic ties between the two institutions, promote collaboration and exchange in the field of humanities, and conduct on-site investigations into the academic projects of IASH at SYSU.
During the visit, the UM IAS delegation gained in-depth insights into the operational mechanisms of SYSU’s IASH, as well as its academic activities and projects. Both sides engaged in extensive discussions and exchanged views on potential future directions for collaboration.
In the meeting, Professor Xie mentioned that the visit to UMIAS in November this year laid a solid foundation for mutual engagement, as the interaction between the two institutes highlighted broad opportunities for collaboration in humanities research. Professor Yu Xingzhong, Director of UMIAS, remarked that this visit was highly fruitful. Through on-site observations and in-depth dialogues, the delegation gained a more comprehensive understanding of the academic operation model of SYSU’s IASH, which provides valuable references for future collaboration.
This visit further consolidated the academic ties between the University of Macau and Sun Yat-sen University in the field of humanities. It not only offered UMIAS valuable insights but also laid a solid foundation for deeper academic cooperation and innovation in the humanities between the two institutes.
