The Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IAS) of the University of Macau cordially invites you to participate in “The 1st Clare Hall, University of Cambridge – University of Macau Forum 2025” from March 31 to April 1, 2025. The theme of the forum is Interdisciplinary Approaches to Advancing Sustainable Development: Innovative Solutions to Global Challenges.
Objective & Forum Theme
The Forum seeks to deepen academic engagement, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Clare Hall at the University of Cambridge and the University of Macau. Scholars will engage in discussions spanning a variety of crucial topics, including Sustainable Architecture and Smart Cities, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Social Sciences and Education, and Chinese Studies.

Currency exchange / Electronic payment
To facilitate the travel of non-local scholars in Macau, it is recommended to exchange currency in advance and purchase the Macau public transportation card (“Macau Pass“) after arriving in Macau. The Macau Pass can be purchased at convenience stores within the University of Macau (UM). WeChat Pay and Alipay can also be used in Macau.

Weather Tips
In late March and early April, the average temperature in Macau ranges from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius. The venue and indoor areas are typically kept at around 24 degrees Celsius, but occasional temperature drops can occur. It is advisable to bring a jacket for such instances. Macau’s weather is humid, with intense midday sunlight and occasional heavy rain. It is recommended to have an umbrella handy.

How to get to the UM?
You may take taxi or public bus to the N2-University Hall (Bus Stop: T554 UM/ University Hall).
